Knowledge Creation

 Knowledge Creation

The multidisciplinary research department of SINTEFs Knowledge Creation offers research services related to develop high quality research projects in close dialogue with our customers. Knowledge creation, creativity, and innovation are important objectives for the research we are doing. Our approach is informed by co-generative learning and a variety of methods: We do research with clients, not on them.

Research approach

Learning from clients

Learning from clients
We address client-related idea work using a method for collecting, passing on and reflecting about learning in teams and in the organization.

Social Innovation
Enhancing collective creativity in order to address and solve emerging social challenges is a key concern in our research group.
Creative driver

Co-developing creative drivers
We identify the qualities that are present when idea work is at it’s best in an organization.

Nettworking

Networking
User involvement gives new insight to the development of practices among multiple partners.

Workshop facilitation

Workshop facilitation
Our workshops set out to accelerate idea work and learning on specific challenges, while also fostering increased reflexivity on working methods.

Parallel prototyping

Parallel prototyping
Parallel prototyping is a collaborative work form that seeks to force speedy production, testing and improvement of very concrete yet not fully developed ideas.

Generating interviews Generative interviewing
These co-generative dialogues aim at fostering energy and enthusiasm towards current and future work practices as well as opening up for new possibilities to arise and develop.
Film eliticiation

Film elicitation
We use film-elicitation as a model for collaboration and a strategy for two-ways feedback by the use of film in dialogue between all participants in a project.

Multimedia involvement Multimedia involvement - Idea it!
Our researchers are developing a new web-based multimedia tool for sharing ideas, facilitating process support and logging ongoing efforts of idea work.
Cross cultural

Cross-cultural management
Increasing globalisation and collaborative efforts across borders require fine-grained “glocal” knowledge in order to develop effective operation.

Reports and evaluations Reports and evaluations
We also do conventional scientific reports and evaluations, although our approach of co-generative learning and enriched associations through visual media always adds an unexpected twist and particular quality to the work.
Learning stories Learning Hyper-Stories
We capture and convey experiences and insights from complex social collaborations in order to provide valuable support for future similar conducts.

“After we started the effort to strengthen creativity in exploration, the discovery rate on the Norwegian shelf has increased.”
Morten Rye-Larsen, former chef-geologist, Statoil

“This is by far the best characteristic of our shared practice that we have ever seen… enormously precise to come from the outside.”
Lead architect, Snøhetta
