• In the USA, around 125 TWh waste heat is released annually
• In 2005, Norske Skog Skogn used about 1.45 TWh of electrical energy.

Work being done at SINTEF has the following goals:

• To develop energy-efficient technologies for the process industry
• To develop next-generation technology for refrigeration and waste heat utilisation
• To initiate and develop new technology that could reduce Norwegian energy consumption by 15 TWh a year by 2020.
