Testing of materials reaction to fire.
SINTEF NBL (Norwegian Fire Research Laboratory) performs fire testing according to several recognised methods and standards The test reports can be used as documentation for approval for use in buildings, on board ships and on offshore platforms. Which test method is required, depends on the intended area of application. We offer test reports in English or Norwegian language according to your wish. Take a look at the list of which test procedures we can perform in the field of materials reaction to fire.
Where will test reports from SINTEF be accepted?
SINTEF NBL has achieved an accreditation as test laboratory by Norwegian Accreditation according to EN 45001. Norwegian Accreditation has signed a multilateral agreement on mutual recognition through European co-operation for Accreditation of Laboratories (EAL). This implies that test reports from our laboratory shall be recognised as valid documentation by authorities in those countries the agreement covers, provided that the test is performed according to the national prescriptions and regulations in the country of current interest. The Nordic countries have principally the same requirements to documentation for materials used in buildings. Requirements to materials for maritime use are also mainly the same for a large number of nations.
What are the costs of fire testing, and how long time is required for testing?
We can offer our customers competitive prices and short delivery time. Customers will be informed about time schedules for testing and preliminary test results.
For testing of materials reaction to fire, we can guarantee that the test report will be ready for delivery within 4 weeks after we have received complete test material and all necessary documentation. This delivery time is provided that pre-treatment and conditioning of test specimens do not require too long time. Normally, we will be able to complete the test report within 2-3 weeks.
How can fire test reports be useful?
1. of July 1997, Norway got function based building regulations. According to these regulations, fire safety level has to be documented. We can offer the required documentation for different types of products, by performing and reporting relevant fire tests of the products, combined with expert assessments and analyses.
We can also offer ad hoc testing of special products where the customer needs documentation, but no relevant fire test method is available. After consultation with the customer, we will find a solution to how to test the product of current interest in the most relevant way according to the end use situation.
As a part of a company's internal quality control procedures, we can also offer contracts of regularly control testing of products, to document the quality of the materials fire properties. In this way, manufacturers will have the possibility to control their products through testing according to advanced and recognised methods. Contact us to get more information about what we can offer your company in this field.
