Full-scale test rig for oil- and gas fires

A test rig which represents a typical platform module was constructed at our outdoor test site in 2009.

Full scale test rig for oil- and gas fires

The test rig is part of a project that Statoil and ConocoPhilips initiated. The objective is to study the effect of monitors (water sprayers) attacking oil- and gas fires, as well as the effect of deluge systems in process areas.

The test rig is located at an outdoor test site at SINTEF NBL. The rig is buildt on a 30 x 40 m large concrete slab where spill water from the tests are collected. The test rig itself is 10 m high, 10 m wide and 15 m long, and the collection capacity is 60 000 litres of water.
