Renewable energy
Renewable energy is the key to meeting climatic challenges. SINTEF is seeking out good ways to exploit solar energy, hydropower, wind power and bioenergy.

Several hundred people at SINTEF and NTNU are involved in research that will help to bring sufficient clean energy to the sustainable economy of the future.

Today, SINTEF is carrying out research on bioenergy, solar energy and wind-power, as well as on salt-power, hydropower and wave-power technologies.

The Centre for Renewable Energy coordinates the expertise of SINTEF, NTNU and the Institute for Energy Technology, and is taking the initiative in new research projects on renewable energy, while the PV-(photovoltaic) Solar Cells Materials Gemini Centre is a joint SINTEF/NTNU centre for collaboration on solar-cell materials.
