The experiments are carried out indoors in the Fire Test Hall at SINTEF NBL (Norwegian Fire Research Laboratory), which is shown in the photo. It has a floor area of 16.5 m x 36 m and a ceiling height of 22 and 28 m on each side of the long walls.

The capacity of the wall cooling system is 555 000 m3/hr, the capacity of the smoke evacuation system is 640 000 m3/hr and the capacity of the air supply system 220 000 m3/hr. Air inlet and wind simulation may be carried out by a flexible gate. The test hall is capable of withstanding experimental fires of an energy output of up to 40 MW without extra wall protection.
