Ethics is about taking responsibility. In SINTEF, we face ethical challenges every day at work, when conducting business and in our contact with colleagues, clients and business connections. We may face concrete dilemmas where difficult choices have to be made.
Our new ethical guidelines are meant to be of help in such situations. The guidelines are built on our existing rules, but they have been adjusted to fit the social development, and certain topics are discussed more in detail.
By emphasizing ethics on SINTEF's agenda, we wish to create a business culture that invites to open discussions regarding ethical dilemmas. To support this effort, we have established the Ethics Council and ethics representative for SINTEF. They will contribute with advice and guidance, and ensure openness regarding ethical choices, even if we should take a false step.
Ethics in SINTEF is the responsibility of the management. At the same time, SINTEF depends on everyone taking personal responsibility for behaving ethically correct when facing choices in our everyday situations. I feel confident that all employees in SINTEF take this responsibility.
